On January 24, 2024, tech outlet WIRED reported that OpenAI had quietly scrapped policies allowing public inspection of governance documents, financial statements, and conflict of interest rules.

When WIRED reached out to OpenAI to request inspection of these documents, they reported that they were only given access to a narrow financial statement that omitted the majority of their operations.
